The shelter currently has over 40 dogs in its care and shared that this “is coming at a time when we need it the most.”
Scherzer is a dog owner himself and was recently in the news following a dog bite. The pitcher said it was a “non-story” and explained that his dog was in pain at the time and it would have no impact on his recovery.
