Over the weekend, the St. Louis Cardinals continued their winning streak in Chicago.
Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright shared a story on Twitter about meeting a young fan, Emery, following the game and it “absolutely melted my heart.”
Emery gave him a letter saying she was happy to meet him and congratulated him on his 2,000th strikeout. She also included a plastic bag filled with dollars and coins. It was her allowance money. She gave it to Wainwright for his charity, Big League Impact.
Emery wrote in the letter that she was making the donation in hopes of helping more people. She also included her own autograph, adding, “if I ever get famous.”
Had a chance to meet lots of great people this last trip. I met a little girl named Emery this week with her mom that absolutely melted my heart. She cheered us on in Milwaukee and in Chicago.
